Wellfleet's quietest Atlantic surf beach
Also known as Maguire Landing, this ocean beach is the quietest of Wellfleet's surf beaches. Same dramatic dunes and good waves, but with fewer people vying for parking spots.
Lecount Hollow — sometimes called Maguire Landing on older maps — is the southernmost of Wellfleet's three big ocean beaches, the others being Cahoon Hollow and White Crest. It's also the quietest. The lot is the smallest of the three, the surf is just as good, and the dune cliff just as dramatic, but most of the surf-and-party crowd defaults to Cahoon a mile north. What you get instead is a stretch of pristine Atlantic beach where on a weekday in August you can find a quarter mile of sand to yourself by walking ten minutes south. There's a wooden staircase down from the dune-top lot, a small bathhouse, and seasonal lifeguards. The surf break here is consistent and slightly less crowded than Cahoon; experienced surfers know it as one of the more reliable spots on the Outer Cape. The cliff is actively eroding, with sand cliffs the color of cinnamon and big chunks calving off after winter storms.
