The quiet sunset alternative to Breakwater
Tucked among seaside cottages and Ocean Edge Resort, Ellis Landing has a private-beach feel with spectacular sunsets. Small and quiet — perfect when you want Brewster's beauty without Breakwater's crowds.
Ellis Landing is the bay beach equivalent of a found dollar — small, easy to miss, and quietly delightful. Reached by a narrow lane through Ocean Edge Resort cottages, the tiny lot holds maybe twenty cars and a sticker booth checks every one. The reward is a uncrowded crescent of fine sand backed by neat sea-rose hedges, with the same magical Brewster Flats stretching west at low tide. The cottage colony on either side gives the beach a quasi-private feel — you'll see a lot of beach-towel families who clearly walked over from rentals. Sunsets are the headline event: facing north-northwest over the bay, the sky turns sherbet pink as boats glide home through the channel. Bring a picnic and stay through evening; there's no concession but Brewster Coffee Shop and Cobie's are five minutes away. Ellis is also a smart shoulder-season pick — sticker enforcement eases in late September and the flats are at their richest for shellfish raking.
