The bike-in-only Brewster secret
A hidden gem at the end of a dead-end road. Nice, quiet, and virtually unknown. Almost no parking means it's best reached by bike — but that's part of the charm.
Point of Rocks is a true locals-only landing — the kind of place where if you're not from Brewster, you probably arrived by bike or made a wrong turn. The tiny gravel lot fits about a dozen cars and the sticker booth turns away the rest. The reward is one of the most peaceful bay beaches on the Cape: a narrow strip of sand backed by glacial erratics (the namesake rocks), with the Brewster Flats opening up at low tide just like every beach to the west. There are no facilities — no bathrooms, no lifeguards, no anything. Bring everything you need and pack it out. The best strategy is to come by bicycle via the cottage backroads of East Brewster or off the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Sunsets here are quietly magnificent. If you want the genuine off-grid Brewster bay experience, this is it.
History
Named for the glacial erratics — boulders dropped by retreating ice sheets 18,000 years ago — that stud the beach at low tide.
