A quiet harbor beach beside the working Barnstable waterfront
A bay-side beach in Barnstable Village near the harbor. Watch fishing boats and whale-watching tours come and go. Calm water with a view of Sandy Neck across the harbor.
Millway Beach sits at the edge of Barnstable Harbor in Barnstable Village, a small crescent of sand and rock right beside the town landing where the Hyannis Whale Watcher fleet and the local fishing boats tie up. It's not really a beach for stretching out a towel — it's a beach for kids who like to watch boats, for grandparents reading on a folding chair, for anyone who wants the calm shallow water of Barnstable Harbor with the Sandy Neck dune line as a backdrop. The water warms quickly because the harbor is shallow and protected, and the tidal flats at low tide are a small kingdom of fiddler crabs and razor clams. Parking is for Barnstable resident or visitor stickers only; the lot is small and fills on weekends. There are seasonal restrooms at the adjacent marina and a snack option at Mattakeese Wharf next door.
