The toddler beach with a free sailing show
A tiny, protected beach on Lewis Bay with extremely calm water — ideal for toddlers. Adjacent to the Yarmouth Sailing Center. Not great for serious swimming, but perfect for small children splashing around.
Englewood is a postage-stamp beach on Lewis Bay that's purpose-built for toddlers. The water is bath-warm by mid-July, the surf is literally zero (Lewis Bay is fully protected), and the sand bottom slopes so gradually that a three-year-old can walk twenty yards out and still touch. The Yarmouth Sailing Center sits adjacent, so kids watch Optis and lasers tack across the bay all afternoon — a free sailing-school show. There's a tiny free lot of maybe fifteen spaces and a porta-john but no other facilities, so bring everything. Best in the morning when small-children family traffic peaks; by mid-afternoon it empties out and you can have it nearly to yourself. Pair with lunch at the Wimpy's restaurant a half-mile inland or ice cream at Smitty's Ice Cream in West Yarmouth.
