Menauhant Beach

Falmouth, Massachusetts · Nantucket Sound

East Falmouth's family beach with jetties and warm sound water

A popular Nantucket Sound beach in East Falmouth with warm water and gentle waves. The jetties create a protected swimming area. One of the few Falmouth beaches where day passes are readily available.

Menauhant Beach is East Falmouth's go-to family beach — a long stretch of warm Nantucket Sound sand divided by stone jetties into two lots and two distinct sections. The east jetty creates a protected swim area where the water gets bathtub-warm by August, and the broad sand bowl behind the dune line is wide enough that a family with a canopy and a cooler is never crowded. The jetties themselves are popular with fishermen casting for scup and stripers, and at low tide they reveal mussel beds and tide pools that keep small kids occupied for hours. Crucially for non-residents, Menauhant is one of the few Falmouth town beaches that offers daily passes on a first-come-first-served basis — the lot is bigger than the typical Falmouth town beach and turnover happens throughout the day. The Vineyard is visible across the sound to the south, and the steady southwest breeze that builds in the afternoon makes for excellent kite-flying.
