Wood Neck Beach

Falmouth, Massachusetts · Buzzards Bay

Sippewissett's quiet Buzzards Bay marsh-fringed beach

A quiet Buzzards Bay beach tucked between Sippewissett and West Falmouth. Protected waters and a serene setting. Resident-only parking keeps it uncrowded even on peak summer days.

Wood Neck Beach is the Sippewissett village beach — a long, narrow strip of Buzzards Bay sand backed by salt marsh and reached via a small footbridge from a residents-only parking lot. The footbridge crosses the Little Sippewissett Marsh creek, and at high tide the kids in the lot are already mid-jump off the bridge into the tidal flow. The beach itself is wide and gently sloping into warm bay water; the cove geometry shelters it from the prevailing southwest wind so the surface is almost always calm. The marsh behind the beach is one of the better preserved on the Upper Cape — Buzzards Bay Coalition runs occasional kayak tours of the creeks — and you'll see fiddler crabs, mummichogs, and great egrets working the channels. Parking is strictly Falmouth-resident-stickered with maybe forty spots, but on a weekday afternoon you can often find a space; on weekends it's locals-only by attrition.
